If I can only use one word to explain why Singaporeans like using credit cards over cash, it will be this: FREEBIES.

Who doesn't like freebies?!

Most credit cards let you earn rewards points whenever you use your card to pay for anything, be it a movie ticket or an air ticket. And these rewards points can be used to redeem for a whole universe of freebies and goodies!

Which Bank Has The Best Credit Card Rewards Programme?

Each bank has its own rewards programme for credit cardmembers to redeem their rewards points. In a way, these rewards programmes are similar, offering things like shopping vouchers, dining discounts, gifts, or an option to convert rewards points to air miles.

But they are not quite the same.

Different banks give you vouchers to use at different locations. Some rewards programmes are more comprehensive and give you more choices to redeem your rewards points.

With so many credit card rewards programmes in Singapore, have you ever wondered which bank has the best rewards programme for cardholders?

We at GET.com have done the hard work; spent dozens of hours researching each bank's rewards programme, and now, we present you with the top 3 rewards programmes in Singapore!

1. Citibank Rewards

You earn Citi Dollars whenever you charge your spending to your Citibank credit card.

Citibank's rewards programme gives you tons of choices to redeem your rewards points (Citi Dollars) in seven major categories: Dining, shopping, lifestyle and entertainment, junior, points transfer (air miles), annual fee waiver or charity.

You can also redeem points for cash rebate.

Almost all Citibank credit cards let you earn Citi Rebate. The percentage of Citi Rebate differs from each participating merchant, ranging from 1% to 10% of your bill. 1 Citi Rebate is equivalent to $1 and there's no cap for how much you can earn. You can then use it to offset the next purchase when you visit any other Citi Rebate merchant.

2. UOB Rewards

Your UNi$ can be redeemed for a wide range of things, such as cash rebates, instant rewards, shopping vouchers, dining discounts, and travel rewards (travel vouchers or conversion to air miles).

You can redeem your UNI$ on the spot at over 5000 stores and restaurants, including major shopping malls and retailers such as Anchorpoint, AMK Hub, Bedok Point, Centrepoint, nex, Harvey Norman, Isetan and many others.

With instant rewards, you can redeem your UNI$ for vouchers instantly.

3. OCBC Rewards

In terms of comprehensiveness, OCBC Bank's rewards programme (OCBC$) is as good as Citibank and UOB, with a broad range of things to choose from: dining or shopping vouchers, wellness, health and beauty products, travel discounts and a million other things.

But OCBC$ rewards programme gives you a bit more freedom in terms of how you want to use your rewards points.

If you don't want to redeem for anything, you can transfer your OCBC$ to another principal OCBC credit card holder. You can give it to your family members or friends as a gift! And the transfer can be done online in just a few steps.

This is quite a unique feature as most banks don't allow you to transfer rewards points to another account under a different name.

If you have more than one OCBC credit card, you can also consolidate all of the OCBC$ you have earned on different cards.

UOB has a similar feature, which allows you to accumulate UNI$ from different card accounts, provided you are the principal cardmember of all the card accounts.

OCBC Bank also has its own instant rewards programme that lets you redeem rewards on the spot at many locations.

You earn 1 OCBC$ for every $1 charged to your card. But there are a few cards that helps you earn OCBC$ faster:
